Journey to Recognition relay visits Torres Strait
COMMUNITIES in the Torres Strait have welcomed the Journey to Recognition relay. Kicking off the Journey for Recognition for 2016, the Recognise campaign will visit 12 Islands over two weeks, hosting events in collaboration with local communities to talk about fixing the Constitution. Today marks the halfway point of the Torres Strait Islands leg of the Journey. So far, stops have been made at Thursday Island, Kubin, St Pauls, Badu, Mabuiag, Boigu and Saibai with hundreds of Torres Strait Islander community members taking part in events, yarning circles and music and dance.
