FAMILIES, friends and visitors, old and young, local and from as far away as Western Australia took part in the National Day of Action for Cassius Turvey in Cairns (Gimuy) earlier this month. 

Local Elder Nerelle Nicol said she was there for her grandchildren. 

“I think the issue of young Cassius’ passing continues to raise a whole lot of issues that we’ve always worked against,” she said. 

“The rate of our children being incarcerated, the rate of our children suiciding, and all of those issues…
