Jacara’s new role a first for women’s footy

Muthi Muthi/Gunditjmara woman Jacara Egan will form one part of a first in Australian Football history as an assistant coach in the AFL and AFLW academy programs.

Egan will join AFLW captains Daisy Pearce (Melbourne) and Alicia Eva (GWS) in what will be an equal representation of men and women coaches across the AFL and AFLW Academy programs. Egan was recently appointed as AFL and AFLW national academy assistant coach alongside Pearce and Eva. Egan had previously coached the Calder Cannons.

Egan and Pearce will join West Australian under-18s head coach Beau McDonald as AFLW Academy assistant coaches. Eva will return for her second year in the program, working alongside Oakleigh Chargers and Vic Metro head coach Jason Davenport and South Australian head coach Tony Bamford as AFL Academy assistant coaches.
