It’s a small step but Jada Mathyssen-Whyman is edging ever closer to winning a cap with the Matildas. 

The soon to be 23-year-old No 1 goalkeeper at Sydney FC in the A-League Women’s was on standby for the Matildas in the national team’s games against Canada at the weekend. 

Mathyssen-Whyman was called up as an emergency when Australia played Brazil last year, joining Lydia Williams and Kyah Simon in the national team. 

Next year, Australia (and New Zealand) will host the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup…
