Queen’s mural defaced
A MURAL of the Queen was painted over with the colours of the Aboriginal flag and fake blood was smeared on the British consulate during the recent ‘Day of Mourning’ for Queen Elizabeth II.
The artist who produced the mural of the late Queen said he had no intention of painting over the flag.
As anti-monarchy rallies took place across the country, the street art in Sydney’s inner west was covered up with black, red and yellow spray paint.
But the mural artist Stuart Sale, said it now “belongs to the streets”.
“Art is meant to be reactionary,” he said.
“Now it’s been turned into something new and that’s the nature of street art.”
