We’re on

The Koori Mail newspaper is aiming to publish our first edition back, on April 20, following two major floods in Lismore.

Production of the newspaper was put on hold as the newspaper’s office in Molesworth Street, Lismore, was extensively damaged by flood waters.

In the weeks following the first flood, general manager Naomi Moran has coordinated a relief centre, assisted by Koori Mail staff and hundreds of volunteers, that has assisted both Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal residents of the Bundjalung nation in the Northern Rivers region of New South Wales.

Just last week, the relief centre, which provides food, clothing, medical care and other essentials, had to be quickly packed up as a second major flood hit the city of Lismore.

As of Monday, the volunteers have been back on deck assisting the city and surrounds, while the Koori Mail team begin preparations for its first post flood edition!
